A few pics form Thursday morning on the Youghiogheny River in PA. Being a tailwater the water stays nice and chilly on this PA gem, even in Late July and can provide pretty nice action.

Bringing in a Brownie...

and a rainbow.

Average Yough bow that took a sz 20 adams.

Chunky Brown...

and his little brother that found a small black streamer to their liking.

Another rainbow comes to hand.

as does another brown.

Throw in some chunky smallies and spending a time on the river with your brother you have a pretty nice morning of fishing.

On the local front it seems the carp chumming has been good based on the activity in the river across form the shop and the smallie fishing has been ok as well.

Around the shop we have been tying up some sweet steelhead flies for the upcoming season and getting anglers geared up for fishing trips around the country. If you are going on a trip and need help getting geared up stop on down.

Good luck Dan and Pete.

State College, PA Photo Essay.

Almost everywhere welcome sights to flyfisherman.

Like i said ALMOST everywhere.

Working terrestrials along the bank.

Size 20 rusty spinners did the trick for early risers on Spring Creek.

Mid-Day is for ants and beetles.

Clear, cold, spring fed.....

means wild brookies.

There were a few bugs around like this bwo.

Prettier water is hard to find.

Gotta be a couple in there.

Fresh wild sockeye fillets from a customer just returning from Alaska ready for the grill.

Dinner time.

Bad time to be a chicken.

On the fishing front PA trout fishing is still good but getting tougher, ants, beetles, midges, and tricos will all work. Locally smallies have been biting and it's getting to be prime time for carpin' in northeast Ohio. Good Luck and stop on in.

It's been really fishy around here.

Recently the hairdressers are outnumbering the fly tiers 4-1. But they pay cash and smell better so we are not complaining.

Looking downstream on a recent float on the Yough with Laurel Highlands guide service.

Smallies are becoming more active in this tailwater.

And trout are on the feed as well.

Hooked up to a strong tailwater bow with no other anglers or boats seen all day.

Locally river smallie fishing has been good and farm pond bass and gills have been hot. Largemouth are stacked at Presque Isle and trout fishing around state college is worth exploring as well.

Good Luck Dan and Pete.
